Community-Led/Driven Peace Building and Reconciliation

Initiatives:

• West Darfur Community Initiative:
  • Creation and Support: ZIPAD supported the creation of the West Darfur Community Initiative in response to the recent conflicts in West Darfur. This initiative aims to foster peace and reconciliation among conflicting communities.
  • Community Involvement: Engaging local community leaders, elders, youth, and women in peacebuilding activities to ensure inclusive and sustainable peace efforts.
• Peace and Reconciliation Meetings:
  • Mediation and Dialogue: Facilitating peace and reconciliation meetings where conflicting parties can engage in dialogue, address grievances, and develop mutual understanding.
  • Conflict Resolution Training: Providing training on conflict resolution techniques, negotiation, and mediation to community members and leaders to build their capacity in managing disputes peacefully.
• Community-Based Solutions:
  • Local Authority Collaboration: Working closely with local authorities to implement community-driven solutions that address the root causes of conflict and promote lasting peace.

Funding and Support: The initiative is funded by the Sudanese Diaspora initiative from West Darfur, which supports the ongoing peacebuilding efforts.
